All That Reunion Coming This April

All That Reunion

It seems the days of reunion shows actually being a reunion of full cast, and a new storyline are over. All That!  will be airing a reunion special on Nickelodeon’s “The Splat” but the show won’t be a happy blend of old faces and new sketches.

The show will be a montage of old footage we’d seen in the 90s. Returning cast; Danny Tamberelli, Kel Mitchell, Lori Beth Denberg, Josh Severn and Keenan Thompson will have squishy spots on a All That Reunion2couch while discussing all the fun they had when the show first aired.  Sad considering Keenan’s current job is on SNL.

Amanda Bynes was not invited to do the reunion show and reports that she’s too busy focusing on fashion to attend either way.

The series ran from 1994 – 2005 and spawned spin-off shows such as The Amanda Show, Keenan and Kel and The Nick Cannon Show. Reruns of the show can even be found on one of Nick’s many teen targeted channels.

The All That! Reunion Special will be airing on Nickelodeon April 22, 2016

Shemar Moore Leaves Criminal Minds

Shemar-Moore1

I watched in awe, partially on the verge of tears as we all said farewell to Agent Derek Morgan of the BAU. He isn’t dead Shemar Moore just left the show.

After 11 seasons of playing the BAU’s hunky chocolate hitter, Shemar Moore bid farewell in the final episode “A Beautiful Disaster”.  The final episode features Derek hunting down the man responsible for shooting his pregnant wife Savannah (special guest star Rochelle Aytes plays Mrs. Morgan).

derek and savannahWeek after week we were prepped for Morgan’s departure, after he was kidnapped and tortured in “Derek” I was just happy he wasn’t killed off. Moore’s final episode aired March 23, 2016, though Morgan is leaving to spend more time with his wife and new son. Moore is leaving the show to puruse new oppurtunities.

The most heartbreaking goodbye, was between him and character Penelope Garcia, who’s friendship has kept us all enamored with the show since it started in 2005. Moore stated in an interview with TV Guide that he’d happily return in some capacity later down the line. Noting his occasional appearances after leaving the soap Young and the Restless.

Did you forget he was on that?

Criminal Minds still comes on CBS Wednesdays @ 9pm. Be sure to also catch the new spin-off Criminal Minds:Beyond Borders which airs just after @ 10pm.

Legends of the Hidden Temple Comes to Philly!

A true 90s kid I spent a lot of my younger days in front of a tv watching Rugrats, Guts and Legends of the Hidden Temple. So of course when I overheard my coworkers talking about an adult version of the show coming to Philly I got really excited. Considered to be a mixture between Jeopardy and Raiders of the Lost Ark Legends of the Hidden Temple was a perfect blend of brains and brawn.

The fact that it’s based on a magical Mayan temple probably piqued the interest of the Penn Museum because April 20 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., they’ll be hostingLegends of the Hidden Temple - Penn Museum “Legends of the Hidden Temple: Penn Museum Edition.”  Tickets are $20 but are Sold out according to the website.

The Little Red Hen

Little Red Hen and Bread

It started with a cream cheese garlic spread I’d made on Easter. I’d been craving it and all I needed to finish it off was a piece of bread. It’d been a few days since I’d shopped and sadly I had none. My friend Tam was over and she is a vegetarian. I felt it’d be rude to eat the chicken pasta I had in the fridge and I secretly wanted the rest of my spread. I’d planned to make bread at some point as I have a passion for baking and this seemed like the perfect moment. I asked if she wanted to help and she happily agreed. While I set out the ingredients for the bread, we’d decided to modify a garlic Little Red Hen Book 2bread stick recipe to suit our needs. I started thinking of one of my favorite childhood fables; “The Little Red Hen”. An avid user of the phrase, “not I says the cat” a residual verbal tick I picked up from repeated usage.

I wondered if my friend, fellow nerd and book lover had ever heard of the child hood story. It turns out she had and it was also a favorite of hers.

“The Little Red Hen” is all about a little hen who finds some grain. Her goal to make some bread, but first she has to grow the grain into the wheat and so on and so forth. Along the way she runs into other characters of the farm; all whom refuse to help in growing the grain to make the bread.Bread 1 Over time the hen harvests her wheat and makes her bread and of course all the farm animals wanted some of the it. Unlike the mushy goo of Disney’s children stories modified for a more delicate generation this fable ends with the little red hen devouring the bread all by her lonesome while the lazy animals watched.

This moral story of  hard work and the consequences of laziness most likely originated in Russia. The popular US version I remember, written by Margot Zemach was published by Little Golden Books. Our story was more about hunger and the desire to work out of laziness. (I’d refused to walk to the supermarket around the corner) Tam actually helped me make the bread and so had a few helpings herself.
