This has got to be one of my absolute favorite series. I actually discovered it on a bender from Twilight, (yea, I love Twilight) the clerk at Barnes and Noble suggested I read this if I liked vampire series.
Shout out to clerk whose name I forgot that was a spot on choice. House of Night is a 12 book series which features several spin off stand- alone novellas.
Rumors of a movie have been around for years but as of yet no new news has developed on that.
As far as stats go this book is a young adult fantasy fiction. Written by mother daughter writing duo P.C. and Kristin Cast.
The book offers a modified look on vampires adding special abilities to modernize them, a lunar mark symbolizes a transitional period from fledgeling to vampire. Native American mythology and incarnations of literal good and evil ensures this book if crammed with fantasy elements.
The world in the house of Night evolves throughout the series as any good series that spans 12 books should. The primary location is in a boarding school and the surrounding area in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Our main character Zoey Redbird, is just 16 when she is marked as a new vampire. She starts her journey reluctant and afraid of her gifts but soon finds that they truly are gifts from the Goddess Nyx.
The primary antagonist of this series is Neferet magical vampire headmistress and all out bad ass. She literally makes a deal with the incarnation of evil!
House of Night features elemental magic, a healthy mixture of native American, Celtic and Grecian mythology as well as vampire lore.
If you haven’t seen why I love this series yet. Go read it for yourself. This series is great for lovers of magic and vampire stories. The teenage girl in me still swoons over the intricate love stories woven between the ongoing battle we’re reading.
House of Night is the perfect series to add to your shelf especially if you already have copies of The Mortal Instruments, The Immortals or Nightworld.
Have you read House of Night? Did you finish the series? What did you think?
