Secret Life of the American Teenager

When it first aired I too was sold on the great Molly Ringwald’s return. If seen Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club. Secret Life was one of those shows that I caught just before college.

Basic premise is Amy is a high school freshman who finds out the hot bad boy she banged in band camp got het pregnant.  Along with normal social issues, Secret Life explores Amy’s life as eldest daughter, expectant mother all while dealing with the struggles of maneuvering high school.

I gotta be honest here, I don’t know who’s secret life this is but I feel terribly sorry for them and the townies that surround them.

After a series of partner swaps and questionable plot twists my senior year Netflix binge fizzled during the 4th season premiere. What was once ABC family offered both and entertaining yet loosely family focused program that sometimes teetered on x-rated.

These kids got more tail than I did during my senior year of college. Any who I found myself having mushy drama overload and quit watching before the series finale.

I recently rediscovered Secret Life and jumped right back in where I left off. Turns out Ben, spiraled after Amy and Ricky got back together and unfortunately as of Season 5 episode 10 he was still waiting for Amy and Ricky to split up even if he had to wait until they were geriatric.

There’s a new girl in school who gets to be pregnant and we get to see history repeat itself while a new young guy tries to save the young mother.

Where am I now?

Molly Ringwald, “Amy’s Mom” is a lesbian, Amy and Ricky are pretending to have eloped while their families plan a large wedding. Ben is semi stalking her whilst having also ran through the graduating class. Ricky, Jack and Adrian are all attending the same college.

For some reason there was a pimp roaming campus who beat up Jack. We’ll see how this works.

Weekly Wanna Watch List (4.3.17 to 4.7.17)

I am all about new movies and 2017 seems to be the year for what you’ve been craving. Each week i’ll be giving a quick overview of of what the movies are supposed to be and whether or not i want to see.

Phoenix Forgotten Phoenix-Forgotten-movie april 21

The mysterious phenomenon known as “The Phoenix Lights”remains the most famous and widely viewed UFO sighting in history. Shortly after the incident, three teens ventured into the desert hoping to document the strange events. They disappeared that night, and were never seen again. Twenty years after their disappearance, unseen footage has been discovered, chronicling the final hours of their fateful expedition.

The movies stars;  Matt Biedel, Hector Luis Bustamante, Ana Dela Cruz none of whom i’m familiar but all of whom have been featured in other films. This movie is PG-13 and is classified under the Drama, Horror and Sci-Fi/Fantasy genre.  I’m indifferent about how much I want to see this movie, but i’m hoping it’s spooky.

Phoenix Forgotten opens – April 21, 2017

Sneek Preview – The Rookie and the Rat

rookie-and-the-rat

I recently came across a hilarious short film by Atlanta based production house,  The Holland Bay production company. Starting out as part of  “The Be Great Project,”

“The Rookie and The Rat” stars the riotous pairing of Instagram star Teresa Nelson (@TopNotchWorldd) and actress, Nikki Nicole (@therealnikkinicole) co-Host on Kandi Burruss’ “Kandi Koated Nights”.

In the movie slacker, Diana (@TopNotchWorldd) and uptight Beverly (Nikki Nicole) play an odd couple of exterminators, charged with removing a large rat from a basement.

After a quick “smoke break” the two discover, the owner of the house is none other than Bev’s date from the other night, Zack played by Brad James (@mrbradjames ) of “For Better or Worse” and all sorts of comedy ensue. If you’re in need of a funny break be sure to catch, “The Rookie and the Rat” set to be released in Oct.

AAMBC Awards!!!!

So far my life as a blogger has been pretty uneventful. It doesn’t pay well right now so I never get to really GO anywhere. My cousin recently wrote a book, I have yet to read and therefore nothing to review but she’s been traveling to promote it and I was puzzled at how she was finding out all of these events were taking place when I hadn’t even realized they’d existed.  Biting the bullet I swallowed my pride and asked her,

“How are you finding out about all of these things?”

To my surprise she answered with Instagram, and of course it was something so brazenly simple as that. A social media site previously reserved only for my hideous selfies was going to be the vehicle to drive me to my golden ticket. But i’m a writer, and Instagram is for Photos right?

Surprisingly there are tons of apps which allow you to post text in photo format. The app I use for example is Textgram  but there are loads.

God Don't Like UglyI began posting pictures of my writing and of books that I enjoyed my own personal library of novels. There is an entire world of people like me, bookish, fantasy nerds drooling over the next 5 book series. I’ve never been more tickled. So i’m sure this is the part where you ask,

“Hey Noel, didn’t you mention something about an awards ceremony and an Acronym??”

Yes I did….

In following that very simple peace of advice I posted a photo of one of my FAVORITE BOOKS EVER!!!! Its a series actually apparently one I am 2 books shy of completing. The God Don’t Luck Ugly series was one of the very first books I read as an adolescent and the story has stuck with me through adulthood. Without giving too much of the story line away because you definitely SHOULD read it! It follows the trials and struggles of Annette Goode and consequently as a result the life and journey of her best friend Rhoda. The two go through a lot together but always seem to weather the storm. My praises for the book on Instagram of course got me invited to the above mentioned ceremony and what an amazing weekend it will be.Mary Monroe

The African Americans on the Move Book Club was created in February 2008, by Tameka Newhouse; the annual AAMBC Literary Awards was later launched in 2009.  Initially the ceremony was to provide exposure for unknown writers offering acclaim through one of many awards. It has since evolved into a weekend of fellowship for writer’s in each phase of their careers from reading enthusiasts to full fledged Celebrity panels. This year Mary Monroe author of the God Don’t Like Ugly  is being honored which is the primary reason for me going. Omar-Tyree But also in support of fellow philly writer Omar Tyree author of the Flyy Girl series and my own personal favorite the book Diary of a Groupie. It’ll also be pretty amazing to hang out with other writer’s and hopefully I’ll even be able to find a few who write fantasy like I do.

The 2016 AAMBC awards  will be hosted in Atlanta, Ga this year. A great excuse for me to hang out with some family.  If you have yet to buy tickets click here ! They may or may not be sold out

All That Reunion Coming This April

All That Reunion

It seems the days of reunion shows actually being a reunion of full cast, and a new storyline are over. All That!  will be airing a reunion special on Nickelodeon’s “The Splat” but the show won’t be a happy blend of old faces and new sketches.

The show will be a montage of old footage we’d seen in the 90s. Returning cast; Danny Tamberelli, Kel Mitchell, Lori Beth Denberg, Josh Severn and Keenan Thompson will have squishy spots on a All That Reunion2couch while discussing all the fun they had when the show first aired.  Sad considering Keenan’s current job is on SNL.

Amanda Bynes was not invited to do the reunion show and reports that she’s too busy focusing on fashion to attend either way.

The series ran from 1994 – 2005 and spawned spin-off shows such as The Amanda Show, Keenan and Kel and The Nick Cannon Show. Reruns of the show can even be found on one of Nick’s many teen targeted channels.

The All That! Reunion Special will be airing on Nickelodeon April 22, 2016

Shemar Moore Leaves Criminal Minds

Shemar-Moore1

I watched in awe, partially on the verge of tears as we all said farewell to Agent Derek Morgan of the BAU. He isn’t dead Shemar Moore just left the show.

After 11 seasons of playing the BAU’s hunky chocolate hitter, Shemar Moore bid farewell in the final episode “A Beautiful Disaster”.  The final episode features Derek hunting down the man responsible for shooting his pregnant wife Savannah (special guest star Rochelle Aytes plays Mrs. Morgan).

derek and savannahWeek after week we were prepped for Morgan’s departure, after he was kidnapped and tortured in “Derek” I was just happy he wasn’t killed off. Moore’s final episode aired March 23, 2016, though Morgan is leaving to spend more time with his wife and new son. Moore is leaving the show to puruse new oppurtunities.

The most heartbreaking goodbye, was between him and character Penelope Garcia, who’s friendship has kept us all enamored with the show since it started in 2005. Moore stated in an interview with TV Guide that he’d happily return in some capacity later down the line. Noting his occasional appearances after leaving the soap Young and the Restless.

Did you forget he was on that?

Criminal Minds still comes on CBS Wednesdays @ 9pm. Be sure to also catch the new spin-off Criminal Minds:Beyond Borders which airs just after @ 10pm.

Legends of the Hidden Temple

Debuting in 1993, Legends of the Hidden Temple ran for 2 yrs before going off the air. It was later brought back for re-runs on Nickelodeon’s G.A.S. (Games and Sports network).

The action adventure game show revolved around a temple filled with lost treasure; protected by magical menacing Mayan temple guards. Teams of two would complete mental and physical challenges for a chance at tackling the hidden temple and making it out with cash prizes.

The original show; hosted by Kirk Fogg and Dee Bradley Baker as the announcer and voice of Olmec the giant talking head and temple spirit, is making it way back to TV. Legends of the Hidden Temple3Nickelodeon announced around March that they would be airing a “Legends of The Hidden Temple” TV movie starring, Daniel Cudmore, Isabela Moner, Jet Jurgensmeyer. The trio play siblings who break away from a boring temple tour in a jungle. They find themselves faced with real life temple challenges, they have to solve to survive and escape the temple.

Legends of the Hidden Temple is slated to air on Nickelodeon, November 26,2016.

Re-runs of the show occasionally air on Teen Nick’s “The Splat” block which features throwback shows from the 90s.
