What are you currently reading?

I’ve been hearing so much about this book lately that when I saw it was available for purchase, I had to snag it. Turns out this book happens to be an Advanced Reader’s Copy someone let slip through their fingers. I’m more than happy to make it a part of my home library. Song of Blood & Stone by L. Penelope is the highly anticipated first novel in the Earthsinger Chronicles and I should be finished reading it by Sunday night.

What did you recently finish reading?

I finally finished reading Tithe by Holly Black. A book I started back in late January and hadn’t had time to finish before this month. It’s definitely a book I had to power through but once I got into the story I was super happy I stayed with it. I am a chronic, ship-jumper when it comes to stories I don’t enjoy.  The final moments in the book were enough to inspire me to add the other books in the series to my TBR list. You can check out the review for Tithe here.

What do you think you’ll read next?

There are so many options, books on my TBR list, books that are on my bookshelf that I haven’t added to by TBR list, the occassional Book Haul to muddy things up. I recently purchased a steampunk fairytale anthology that i’m dying to sink my teeth into so maybe that will be my next read.

What Are You Reading Right Now? Leave A Comment Below!

Coming Soon! Fahrenheit 451

One of my favorite novels by Ray Bradbury, and featuring my On – Screen husband (he don’t know it yet, but we’ve been dating since Creed and made it official after Black Panther) Fahrenheit 451 is coming to HBO! Check out the trailer!

Blu Moon Fiction Calendar: Coming Soon

I’m always looking for new ideas to promote literacy and to engage in my creative side. If I can find a way to promote local talent as well that is an added bonus. So while brainstorming ideas for my next fundraising project; I decided to put together a fantasy art calendar featuring local artists.

The fantasy art calendar will feature artists from Philadelphia and the surrounding area and money raised from the sale of the calendar will be donated to the local charity, Books Through Bars. I discovered the group, which sends books to inmates in the Mid-Atlantic region of the US, while looking for volunteer opportunities.

The organization is always in need of book donations, extra helping hands and donations of course. Which is what

spawned the idea for the calendar, book drive and Read-Olympics all coming soon in the next few months.

I’m looking for local artists, in the Philadelphia and surrounding area. All submissions are welcome. Any interested artists should include two sketches for review. The first sketch should have the #WhatsYourStory theme.

#WhatsYourStory is Blu Moon Fiction’s call to action. It not only encourages creative’s to share their perspectives but also serves as a challenge to find innovative ways in expressing our creativity.

This sketch is a freestyle option, provided it includes #WhatsYourStory in the actual picture.

The only requirement for the second picture is that the central theme must be books or reading. If I get enough responses I’ll happily produce multiple calendars using everyone’s artwork. For now, I’m looking for 12 local artists interested in sharing their talents for a good cause. 10% of the proceeds from the calendar will be donated to Books Through Bars.

Check back with Blu Moon Fiction, over the next few weeks for more details on the Blu Moon Fiction 2018 Read-Olympics/ Book Drive. As well as for more info on how to get involved with the Blu Moon Fiction Fantasy Calendar. If interested in participating in either the Blu Moon Fiction calendar or The Read – Olympics, send all inquiries to BluMoonFiction@gmail.com Subject: Calendar

Weekly Wanna Watch List

JUSTICE LEAGUE

As a DC fan i have to say I’m a little excited about this. Much like what The Avengers did for Marvel; Justice League should solidify the franchise and spawn a truckload of sequels. Super excited,  I’m disappointed Superman won’t be featured though.

THOR:RAGNAROK

The Thor movies always come out around my bday. So of course I’ll be spending this one at the theatre watching!

DEATHNOTE

As a fan of the manga and the anime, I’m excited to see a movie about the series. Looking forward to see how this plays out.

MY FRIEND DAHMER

I have a weird fascination with serial killers. The fact that there is a movie coming out about Dahmer as a teenager is intriguing.

Weekly Wanna Watch List (4.3.17 to 4.7.17)

I am all about new movies and 2017 seems to be the year for what you’ve been craving. Each week i’ll be giving a quick overview of of what the movies are supposed to be and whether or not i want to see.

Phoenix Forgotten Phoenix-Forgotten-movie april 21

The mysterious phenomenon known as “The Phoenix Lights”remains the most famous and widely viewed UFO sighting in history. Shortly after the incident, three teens ventured into the desert hoping to document the strange events. They disappeared that night, and were never seen again. Twenty years after their disappearance, unseen footage has been discovered, chronicling the final hours of their fateful expedition.

The movies stars;  Matt Biedel, Hector Luis Bustamante, Ana Dela Cruz none of whom i’m familiar but all of whom have been featured in other films. This movie is PG-13 and is classified under the Drama, Horror and Sci-Fi/Fantasy genre.  I’m indifferent about how much I want to see this movie, but i’m hoping it’s spooky.

Phoenix Forgotten opens – April 21, 2017

Sneek Preview – The Rookie and the Rat

rookie-and-the-rat

I recently came across a hilarious short film by Atlanta based production house,  The Holland Bay production company. Starting out as part of  “The Be Great Project,”

“The Rookie and The Rat” stars the riotous pairing of Instagram star Teresa Nelson (@TopNotchWorldd) and actress, Nikki Nicole (@therealnikkinicole) co-Host on Kandi Burruss’ “Kandi Koated Nights”.

In the movie slacker, Diana (@TopNotchWorldd) and uptight Beverly (Nikki Nicole) play an odd couple of exterminators, charged with removing a large rat from a basement.

After a quick “smoke break” the two discover, the owner of the house is none other than Bev’s date from the other night, Zack played by Brad James (@mrbradjames ) of “For Better or Worse” and all sorts of comedy ensue. If you’re in need of a funny break be sure to catch, “The Rookie and the Rat” set to be released in Oct.
