Weekly Wanna Watch List

This week’s list is coming to theatres however with the exception of a few horror movies I’ll be waiting for Netflix.

The Emoji Movie

I did hear they were considering this and even then I thought it was a joke. A lady knows when to admit she was wrong. Apparently Sony read the script and said “How could we not?”
What we get in return is the world of Textopolis, home of all emojis, each with their own singular emotion. Forever. That is until Gene. Gene is a “Meh” emoji  😧😒😕 I tried finding it and this is what I got. Either way Gene has many feelings and as a result it makes him weird.

(As if anything could be weirder about this story)

Gene ventures out with friends hi-5 🖐🏽 and jailbreak, together they journey through the phone and discover a great secret unrelated to their task that may endanger life as they know it.

The Emoji Movie was released July 28th and I’m still trying to accept that this movie was made.

Will you see it? Let us know in the comments below!

ANTI-MATTER

I was interested in watching this solely because of the trailer. Some say this is the feature length adaptation of a Sundance film known as Worm an independent film from 2016.

As a fantasy writer I can appreciate the work of our sci-fi cousins. That being said I feel like if I watch this movie I’ll be left feeling much how I was during Memento. Confused and annoyed.

We follow Ana, a  PhD student unable to create new memories after an experiment whe she creates and transports herself through a wormhole. She attempts to uncover what happened as well as who or what is terrorizing her.

It does sound interesting but my interests in wormholes is limited. I’ll be sure to catch it when it’s released for home viewing.

Will you be going to see Anti-Matter? Let us know in the comments below!

FALLEN

Does anyone remember the movie Fallen, with Denzel Washington? I may be showing my age but I swore that’s what this movie was when I saw the title.

It is most definitely not! Based on the book series (currently housing 5 novels and a few novellas) Fallen is a romantic fantasy novel about….Angels.

We knew this from the title, because we’re clever. Luce Price is sent to Sword &Cross academy a boarding school for “special students” (special in this case means incurably insane but functional). Luce has just been released from therapy, as soon as she steps foot in the grounds she begins to discover Daniel Grigori and the love affair they’ve shared through the centuries.

The trailer gave me Twilight vibes when I first saw it but I’ll be buying the book series and watching the film’s to see how this plays out.

Will you be going to see Fallen? Have you read the books?

Friend Request

It’s 2017 social media rules our lives obviously,  so it was only a matter of time before some horror writer made Facebook deadly. May I present, Friend Request.

From the twisted minds of  Matthew Ballen, Philip Koch, and Simon Verhoeven. Friend Request is a supernatural psychological horror movie all about how deadly social media can really be.

Laura is a super popular college student, over 800 friends of Facebook with an active social life. She makes friends with campus loner Marina who takes the social media status as the real deal (we all know people like this) the friendship derails when Laura doesn’t invite Marina to her birthday party.

An act which causes an in person confrontation and the resulting suicide of Marina. Afterwarfd the social butterfly and her friends receive demonic torment from beyond the keyboard.

I am genuinely intrigued by this movie, check out the trailer!

Will you be accepting this Friend Request?

Leap!

Finishing the list is the inspirational children’s movie Leap! Two orphans one an aspiring inventor whilst the other a gifted dancer. Ran away to Paris to achieve their dreams.

Be sure to take the kiddies to see this one!

Weekly Wanna Watch List

Last Weekend Annabelle Creation smashed the box office grossing 35 million in sales for the No 1 spot and i’m just waiting for $5 Tuesdays at the Rave to avoid the crowd. As always we have a healthy mix of fantasy and horror and rounding out our Weekly Wanna Watch an action adventure. Check out the trailers and my picks for this weeks wanna watch!

The Shape of Water

I’ve never acctually heard of this movie prior to prepping for today’s post.  Octavia Spencer happens to be one of my favorite “newer” actresses. I have yet to  see a movie with her in it that I didn’t love.  Seeing her name amongst the cast definitely made me consider watching the trailer.

Though the title sounds like that of a romance novel, and perhaps there is a bit of romance foreshadowed here in the trailer, The Shape of Water is actually a Sci-Fi/Fantasy and aquatic lore. Based in Cold War America (approx. 1963) Elisa a mute woman working in a high-security government lab discovers a merman and strikes up a friendship.

If that isn’t enough to stoke your interest, this movie is directed by Guillermo del Toro. A writer/director i’ve recently become obsessed with. I may actually go see this film in theatres, if not i’ll be adding it to my Netflix queue for sure.

Annabelle Creation

My love of horror movies can be attributed to my late grandmother Josephine Shepherd who i’m sure would NOT watch this movie if she were alive to do so, because it’s that’s damn scary! I on the other hand will most certainly be going to see this film as soon as the crowds of crazy movie talkers dies down.

The fourth installment in the Conjuring  franchise, and the long awaited prequel to demon doll Annabelle, Annabelle Creation finally explains why and how the demented marionette came to be. Years after he and his wife, Esther, lose their 7-year-old daughter Annabelle in a car accident they welcome a nun and six orphaned girls into their California farmhouse. As usual in these situations one child sneaks into a forbidden room and finds a not so innocent doll with a life of her own.

I just want to say I. Will. Be. Seeing. This. Movie ! That is all.

The Dark Tower

I am a huge Stephen King fan and my fantasy romance with Idris Elba has been ongoing since The Wire. That being said i’ve never actually read any of the Dark Tower series but given the buzz the movie is getting I’m willing to add this to my TBR list also.

If you’re unfamiliar with the storyline; Roland Deschain (Idris Elba), the last Gunslinger, is locked in an eternal battle with Walter O’Dim (Matthew McConaughey), also known as the Man in Black. The Gunslinger must prevent the Man in Black from toppling the Dark Tower, the key that holds the universe together. The ultimate plays out on the big screen in this film directed by Nikolaj Arcel

Polaroid

As much as I love a good screamer flick, I love my cheesy B-List horrors movies just as much. The ridiculous scenerio’s that only happen to teens, absentee parents all that converge on a small town with inexplicable consequences. What’s not to love?

In Polaroid, Bird Fitcher is a high school senior and resident loner finds an old school polaroid camera and starts using it. Soon she discovers the camera’s dark qualities when everyone who’s picture she’d taken meets a strange and tragic death.

Be sure to check out the trailer to see for yourself!

The Hitman’s Bodyguard

Blake Lively is super lucky to have Ryan Reynolds as her beau. Rugged good looks, washboard abs I don’t even know what this movie is about and I wanna watch it just to get a glimpse of Ryan with his shirt off. Add Samuel L. Jackson to the cast list and this movie sells itself.

Need more convincing?

The world’s top protection agent is called to guard the life of his mortal enemy, one of the world’s most notorious hit men. The two have been on the opposite end of battle for years and are thrown together for 24 hours. During their journey from England to the Hague, they encounter high-speed car chases, outlandish boat escapades and a ruthless Eastern European dictator out for blood.

Sounds exciting doesn’t it? That’s why i’ll be getting a ticket to see this one on the big screen!

Which movies made your wanna watch list? Have you already seen some on this week’s? Let us know in the comments below!

Weekly Wanna Watch List

JUSTICE LEAGUE

As a DC fan i have to say I’m a little excited about this. Much like what The Avengers did for Marvel; Justice League should solidify the franchise and spawn a truckload of sequels. Super excited,  I’m disappointed Superman won’t be featured though.

THOR:RAGNAROK

The Thor movies always come out around my bday. So of course I’ll be spending this one at the theatre watching!

DEATHNOTE

As a fan of the manga and the anime, I’m excited to see a movie about the series. Looking forward to see how this plays out.

MY FRIEND DAHMER

I have a weird fascination with serial killers. The fact that there is a movie coming out about Dahmer as a teenager is intriguing.

Deadpool 2 – Extended trailer

So as you all know i’m a comic book novice but i absolutely love my super hero movies! Deadpool being one of my many, many favorites I am hyperventilating over the upcoming sequel. Josh Brolin has been teasing pics of him in “Cable” costume and we’ve been fortunate enough to get trailers and photos on the regular. So while we wait for Summer 2018 here’s one of my favorite extended trailers.

Weekly Wanna Watch List (4.3.17 to 4.7.17)

I am all about new movies and 2017 seems to be the year for what you’ve been craving. Each week i’ll be giving a quick overview of of what the movies are supposed to be and whether or not i want to see.

Phoenix Forgotten Phoenix-Forgotten-movie april 21

The mysterious phenomenon known as “The Phoenix Lights”remains the most famous and widely viewed UFO sighting in history. Shortly after the incident, three teens ventured into the desert hoping to document the strange events. They disappeared that night, and were never seen again. Twenty years after their disappearance, unseen footage has been discovered, chronicling the final hours of their fateful expedition.

The movies stars;  Matt Biedel, Hector Luis Bustamante, Ana Dela Cruz none of whom i’m familiar but all of whom have been featured in other films. This movie is PG-13 and is classified under the Drama, Horror and Sci-Fi/Fantasy genre.  I’m indifferent about how much I want to see this movie, but i’m hoping it’s spooky.

Phoenix Forgotten opens – April 21, 2017
