So eager to surpass her sister, Zelena has managed to repeat her mother’s mistakes.

Tonight’s episode takes us back to OZ for a glimpse of the puzzling romance of Zelena and Hades startign with the spell that’d bring them together. Zelena, still ruling in OZ had plans to create a time spell that would send her back to before Cora abandoned her.

Rushing to the present day Underworld we see that Rumple is being forced to create a portal to bring living beings there. Rumple succeeds in doing so just as Zelena posing as the Blue Fairy comes to steal Baby Hood from Belle. Her plans when the real Blue Fairy appears but most importantly when the portal opens she and Belle and Baby Hood are sucked through it. Zelena injured and magicless is bested by Belle who runs to find help.

She finds Rumple who reveals, he’s still the Dark One; she’s pregnant, and that the baby will belongs to Hades.  Demanding he fix things, Belle takes the baby  and continues to look for help.  Zelena limps her way to Regina and Robin asking for help. Eventually tracking Belle down, as we suspected Zelena tries stealing her away.  Helpless to stop a crying baby without magic, Zelena decides the safest place for the child is with Robin and Regina.

Zelena goes off to find Hades, but as the two square off he confesses that this was all a ploy to show his love for her. Claiming to have tried to smuggle the baby away for her he begs to prove his love. Tearfully she declines this time leaving to go get her daughter back.

Let the games begin, the underworld just got more hectic. Next week Rumple faces off against Gaston….OMG!

#ShowsWeLove: Once Upon A Time: Season 5 Episode 13 – Labor Of Love

Last week ABC’s Once Upon A Time returned and took us to the Underworld in a quest to rescue Hook’s soul. This week we meet the Underworld’s most notable pet. CERBERUS.

This three-headed hell-hound is the stuff nightmares are made of and our heroes must defeat it if they even want to get close.

The show opens with a badly beaten Hook, plotting his escape from the conveniently unguarded prison of the underworld. Inside it, a fellow prisoner warns him not to try to flee. Hook being our favorite cheeky pirate not only flees but brings her along with him, sending her with a OUAT 5X13 Megmessage for Emma to help and facing Cerberus alone.

Emma and the gang are scouring the underworld looking for Hook but instead stumble upon his prison mate. She advises them that Hook is captured by Hades and being guarded by the hell hound.

Mary Mags,  tells the group the only way to defeat Cerberus is by helping Hercules, who she discovered earlier in the search was in the underworld as a lost soul.  It seems our Queen has a history with Hercules, when she was still young before Regina outwardly tried to end her, he trained her to fight so that she could free her kingdom of bandits. He helps her to gain courage and trains her in archery. The two share blooming romance but he has a final tribute to complete before gaining access to Olympus and she has a destiny as Queen.

The two part ways never to speak again, until she finds him by the docks in the underworld that is. Hercules agrees to help however, when he flees from Cerberus and Hades shows up it’s revealed that upon leaving Snow White; Hercules was killed attempting to fight Cerberus and having failed his final tribute, he’s been trapped in the underworld ever since. Of course we all know Hades is uncle to Hercules and so Hades issues a warning to our group that by interfering with Hercules, his kin, he’d have to interfere with theirs. Emma takes this as a challenge, but is awe struck when Hades shows her Hook’s Hook ripped from his wrist.

The pity party begins and Mary Margaret sits pouting in the underworld version of their apartment. Regina comes in and whips her into shape reminding her that, Snow White, was a fighter and bested her in the one way no one expected, by making Regina her friend. The pep talk stokes a fire in her belly and Snow White heads back to the docks to talk some sense to Hercules.

Sidebar* Cruella convinces Henry to help make her human again by appealing to his desire to help Emma, I’d love to see how this plays out.

After talking to Snow White Hercules realizes his mistake was fighting a three-headed beast solo. Snow White offers to help him this time and the two team up, unfortunately, Cerberus had already been released by Hades and was chasing Emma and the rest of the group around the square. With some assistance from their new friend, Hercules, Mary Margaret and Megara (yup, that’s who it’s been the entire time) defeat Cerberus and rejoin the group.

Megara realizes that Hercules is the man who tried to save her from Cerberus when she died. He’d been killed in the process, which is how they both ended up in the underworld. The two ascend to Olympus together and Mary Margaret realizes that she no longer wishes to be Mary OUAT 5X13 Emma1Margaret. She returns to being Snow White. The broken Storybrook clock, echoes that 2 souls have departed and this angers Hades.

Who decides that for every soul our group saves, one of them must stay to take their place. Next week we see if Hook has the heart to make a choice.

Who would you choose to stay in the Underworld?

Season 5’s Broken Kingdom Sheds Light on the Shady Arthur

LANCELOT VS ARTHURSunday night’s all new Once Upon A Time finally explains the questions we’ve all been wondering. Who should our heroes trust and How did they fail Emma?

Newly knighted by Arthur, David is certain he can trust the charismatic king but Snow White believes her friend Lancelot.  And so we are taken back to Camelot 5 years prior, to a frantic Arthur being driven to madness questing for the Dark One’s dagger in an attempt to make Excalibur whole again.

Guinevere desperate to save her husband sneaks off with Lancelot to go find it themselves. They discover that Rumplestiltskin has it hidden on an altar which protects the dagger. He refuses to give it to them but provides a magic vial containing the sands of Avalon.

The sands are known to make anything broken appear fixed. When Guin tells Arthur of her original plan to trick him, he instead uses the sand on her and the kingdom. Apparently, it is also a very powerful brain washing agent.Guinevere and Lancelot

This is most important  because Snow and Charming create a plan to discover who is really on their side Lancelot had indeed been telling the truth but using the sands of Avalon, Arthur and a brainwashed Guinevere dust the Charmings and use them to get the dagger from Regina and Robin Hood.

During the commotion and in an attempt to help Emma defeat the Evil Rumplestiltskin shoulder angel, Hook takes her horseback riding and proves they may still have a chance at their happy ending.

Henry and Violet hanging out in the stables…Emma and Hook are now aware that he had an crush.

once-upon-time-season-5Lancelot newly imprisoned discovers Merida has also been locked away. Back in Storybrooke, Dark Swan snatches Merida ‘ s heart and uses her as a puppet.

Next week: Emma will be using Merida to turn cowardly Rumplestiltskin into a warrior worthy of Excalibur while her loved ones discover the sword stashed in her basement.

Wallace University Red Files – Ms. Bean (2015)

Ms. Bean

Cause of Death: Face Burned Off

Unappreciated housemaid of Kappa house and unaffectionately known as “White Mammie” Ms. Bean was unintentionally (so we think) fried to death by Chanel #1 during a hazing prank gone terribly wrong. Her body was last seen in the meat locker because Chanel refused to confess and is currently at large implying she may not actually be dead.

OUAT’s Dark Swan is Taking Over Summer!!!

DarkEmmaSeason5posterSeason 4 of Once Upon A Time was one that had us begging for Fall. Since its inception, OUAT has relied on Emma Swan as the savior, the shining light in Storybrooke. Last season, writers shook things up by letting us know that, that was not set in stone. All season she was tested; her faith in parents, Snow White and Prince Charming, shaken and she even murdered Cruella  Deville “unintentionally”. Through it all Emma found her way to stay on the side of goodness and we were all still counting on Emma’s shining light.

Things took a twist however, when Rumpelstiltskin partnering with The Author in a weird attempt at rewriting everyone’s stories, gave the villains a happy ending. The villains were still villains even in this reverse world and Henry became the new author, after Rumpelstiltskin  sacrificed Regina to keep his fake new life. Rumpelstiltskin; once back in Storybrooke, still a villain and dying of a cancer caused by his blackened heart, was hanging on by a thread. Meaning soon  everyone in Storybrooke would be at the mercy of  The Dark One, untethered to a human soul. Apprentice Saves Rumple

The apprentice; newly released from the cosmic sorcerers hat, attempts to banish the darkness where he’d been imprisoned all season. Unfortunately, the darkness is too strong and unconstrained by the hat latches itself to the Apprentice,  Emma uses her powers to free The Apprentice but releases the dark ooze into the night. The Apprentice, suggests they find The Wizard, as he attached the darkness to The Dark One dagger in the first place. As the group heads to regroup and plan next seasons adventure however, the darkness finds them.
Regina, who had earlier in the season stated she next to Rumple had the greatest potential for evil fell prey to it’s cyclone of death.EmmasavesRegina As it began to snuff out what little light Regina had in her to begin with, Emma in true savior form, sacrificed herself pushing  Regina out of the way and becoming the dark one herself. Season 5, promises to be one of the best yet, with dark Emma wreaking havoc as her friends head to Camelot, in search of Merlin; the aforementioned Sorcerer, who has intricate knowledge of the dark ooze currently  residing in Emma.

The cast from Camelot so far includes a new insipid spin on King Arthur, a manipulative and dangerous Guinevere, the introduction of Sir Percival and the return of dear Lancelot whom I hope is alive in either MistHaven (enchanted forest) or Storybrooke (Main). To round them out we have our all knowing Sorcerer Merlin, who will be helping our Storybrooke crew played by Elliot Knight, a young black actor from the UK. You may have seen Elliot in his tv show Sinbad, but you may have also seen him on ABC’s hit show How To Get Away With Murder. We’ll also meet princess Merida from Brave and to round out the family reunions sources for the show hinted at bringing on Rumpelstiltskin’s mom  but lied to us and instead will be introducing Lily’s father for season 5.

More on #DarkSwan and the rest of the cast in Season 5 of ONCE UPON A TIME in part II of this article, coming next week!!

Once Upon A Time – Season 2 – Episode 2 – We Are Both (Recap)

A Promotional Picture of Cora, from the ABC show Once Upon A Time

Original Air Date: 10/07/12

On last week’s episode; the purple fog that rolled through the town had brought with it everyone’s memories. As the townspeople reunited the newest problem was that no one could figure out why they were still in Storybrooke. Mr. Gold summons an evil beast after marking Regina. Two new characters were introduced, Mulan and Sleeping beauty who are battling a similar beast known as a wraith.  The beast could not be killed and Mary Margaret asks Regina what she suggests they should do to get rid of the beast. Regina suggests they use the Jefferson’s hat. For those of you who are not aware Jefferson is Storybrooke’s version of the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland. They open the portal and the wraith is sucked inside unfortunately it sucks Emma down with it. Mary Margaret not wanting to lose Emma a second time jumps in after her. David attempts to jump in with them; but the portal closes before he has a chance. Mulan and Sleeping Beauty, come across rubble on their journey to the safe haven. They come across Emma and Mary Margaret who have been knocked out after the fall through the magic hat. Mulan tells Sleeping Beauty that, “That is what killed out Prince”.

As we open on this episode we find the dwarves drawing a line at the border outside of town. A rain drench Storybrooke sign marks the spot. Grumpy is telling the plan of drawing sticks, the shortest straw crosses first. Another dwarf raises concern, with the curse broken ‘could they cross the border?’  As the question lingers the other dwarves start to reconsider. Grumpy snaps them all into line reminding them that they are the royal guard and that this was their opportunity to prove themselves to the Prince. The dwarves reveal their sticks and Sneezy unfortunately has the shortest one. He tries to reason that perhaps a turtle could be just as useful and Grumpy pushes him over the line. Blue waves rush over his body as he shakes on the other side of the line.

Back in town, the townspeople are trying to pull themselves back together after the wraith attack. People are looking for lost loved ones. Geppetto is looking for Pinocchio who has turned completely wooden and is lying in bed. Ruby and Mother Superior are organizing the crowd into help groups.

David is banging on Regina’s door. He brings her Jefferson’s hat and demands she tell him about it.  She makes a snide comment about him needing to bring armed guards and he rather calmly lets her know that without her magic the townspeople will kill her. Henry wishes her alive and that is the only reason no one has hurt her. He asks her about the hat once again and she rudely comments on Emma and Mary Margaret being sucked into it the night before. The two match wits and she claims that if she gets her magic back she gets her son back, her son being Henry, at which point Charming then says if you have to use magic then you don’t have him.

In a flashback we find a younger Regina on horseback frantically pushing her horse TO GO FASTER. She plans to escape, however, the branches of the trees envelop her, picking her up from her horse and suspending her in mid air. A woman is standing behind Regina watching, she chides her for trying to run off. She is Regina’s mother and this version of Regina is wholesome and young looking. She tells her mother that she doesn’t want to marry the king and that she doesn’t want power. Her mother has other plans for her. This Regina cares nothing of magic and power she merely wants freedom. Her mother tells her that power is freedom.

In Storybrooke the town is frantic, David is looking for Mother Superior, Ruby is looking for Mr. Gold, and Geppetto is still looking for Pinocchio. People are worried about if Regina has her powers back or not. Charming is clearly overwhelmed.  David finds Mother Superior, who he calls ‘Blue’ he asks if perhaps there is another magical tree like the one they used to rescue Emma; but without fairy dust there is no way for her to find it. Henry reassures them that they will find another way. He tells them that in the book things always get worse before good news arrives.

Just then, the dwarves run back into town. Sneezy has lost all memory of his former life he believes he is Tom Clark, his Storybrooke identity. The dwarves bring terrible news indeed, if they cross the border, their cursed selves become their only selves.

Elsewhere in Storybrooke Jiminy cricket is trying to get Regina to talk; she refuses, she knows who she is and who she intends on being. We flashback to Regina’s past, she is brushing a younger version of Snow White’s hair and talking.  Little Snow opens a jewelry box and pulls out a necklace. They talk about the necklaces’ origins and Regina tells the young girl that the necklace came from the stable boy whom she was in love with.  Snow assumes the stable boy ran off but Regina tells her that he was actually killed by her mother because Snow couldn’t keep a secret. She places the necklace around the young girl’s neck and begins strangling her with it. Regina is brought back to reality, Snow has just asked about the necklace’s origins. Regina tells her she doesn’t remember, then runs from the castle to tell her father of the terrible vision she had and that she doesn’t want to marry the king. Her mother obtained a book of spells which she got from an unknown source.

In Storybrooke, we discover that the unknown man responsible for giving Cora, (Regina’s mom) is Rumpelstiltskin. The enchanted forest where all the characters of our show are from still exist and Regina and Rumple have been keeping this truth a secret. Regina has come to Gold’s shop to reclaim the book her mother possessed. After moments of argumentative banter and to keep his secret safe, Gold gives her, her mother’s book. He says at one time, he didn’t see the resemblance but she now looks like her mother. The conversation triggers a flashback; Regina is summoning Rumpelstiltskin. He knows her name was waiting for her to summon him.

In Storybrooke, David had told the townspeople to go home and meet back at the town hall in two hours. He is rehearsing his speech trying to find the right words to tell the people. Henry is trying to help. Henry recognizes Jefferson’s hat and asks David, if he knows who the mad hatter is. David tells him that he has heard of the story but that he does not know the man personally. Henry begins telling David his plan for getting Emma and Mary Margaret back but David rushes off to find Mr. Gold before Henry has a chance to finish his thought.  Gold, still isn’t in a helping mood, David asks for something that will help him find Mary Margaret and Emma. He won’t tell Gold what he has to locate the women nor will he divulge how he plans to find them. At a stalemate the two men make a deal, David will not interfere with whatever Gold has planned and in turn Gold will not interfere with his plans to reorganize the town and get Emma and Mary Margaret back.  Gold asks David what happens when people try to cross the border to which David replies, “You lose all memory of your old life.”  Smugly, David exits the store, and faced with the truth of being trapped in Storybrooke like everyone else, Gold begins smashing things around the store.

Continuing with Regina’s flashback we find Rumpelstiltskin talking to the younger Regina.  She is desperately seeking help; he is trying to coax her into using magic, assuring her that this is the solution to her problem. He reveals a present for her, a large object wrapped and sitting in the middle of the floor. His present is a portal to another world. He suggests that Regina push her mother through the glass.

In Storybrooke Regina is looking through the book, the book still contains magic and all she needs to do is inhale the smoke to get her powers back. Flipping through the pages, she inhales the purple smoke. As she does this the smoke turns her eyes a purple hue and the apples on the trees which were once black, to a bright ruby red.

David pours the potion Gold gave him onto the Mad hatter’s hat; the wind begins to lift it and then carries it away. The hat floats to an overturned truck and David discovers Jefferson inside.  It’s time for the town hall meeting and David is nowhere to be found, while Ruby tries to corral everyone into the main hall, Henry tries to get in touch with David.  Suddenly Regina bursts through the doors of the town hall, with her magic rekindled she begins flinging people around like rag dolls. Regina demands Henry return to him and Henry agrees to go with her if she leaves the towns people alone. Regina agrees to this, takes Henry and leaves.

David is talking to Jefferson, who unfortunately tells him that not only can he not get the hat a magic portal to the other realm to work but he also can’t get Emma and Mary Margaret back. The two begin to argue and Jefferson escapes David, taking his last known option with him. Ruby finally catches up to David, she tells him that Regina has taken Henry and that the town fear stricken is going to tear itself apart. The townspeople are heading to the line, risking losing all they knew of their old lives just to escape the curse that plagues their new existence.

As soon as Regina and Henry get home, Henry rushes to his room and tries escaping out the window. To his dismay, Regina has placed a barrier spell around the house and the tree outside traps him. She promises him that she will teach him magic, and that he will be able to make people love him.  He tells her he doesn’t want to be like her.

We flashback to Regina’s wedding day, she is there peering off the balcony as her mother, Cora comes in.  Regina attempts to push her mother through the looking glass, but is frozen in place, by a spell her mother has cast.  Cora taunts her, “It’s not that easy to get rid of me,” the phrase mother knows best rings in as we are taken back to present day Storybrooke.

Near the edge of town, David and Ruby catch up to the townspeople, in a passionate speech he manages to convince the town not to cross the boundary and motivates them to get the town functioning again. He promises to protect them all from Regina, Jiminy and the others head back to town to start their lives again as the townspeople of Storybrooke.

Cora’s taunts enrage Regina enough to break the curse on her and screaming loudly she thrusts her mother through the portal banishing her from the realm. After disposing of her mother, Regina heads out of the kingdom on horseback. She is stopped by Rumple. He asks her how it felt to use magic and she says she loved it, which we can see troubles her. He tells her that he will show her how to use magic. This thought intrigues her but she questions what he’ll get out of it.  Apparently someday she will do something for him, though we have yet to know exactly what that is. Rumple hands her the book back, and Regina asks if she’ll become like her mother, Rumple replies that this is entirely up to her.

In Storybrooke, David has stormed to Regina’s house, sword drawn and ready to fight. Regina calmly lets him in and tells him that the sword is not needed. After her last talk with Henry, she has reconsidered; she plans to let Henry leave with David without any problems. Before he leaves, David asks if the enchanted forest still exists, Regina finally tells him, yes.

As the town begins to pull itself back together, moving on with their old lives in their new bodies; Regina takes the book of spells to the fireplace. She initially planned to burn it but reconsidered and instead locks it in her closet. Henry asks David if Emma and Mary Margaret really survived the trip through the portal. David says he knows they did because he can feel it.

In what is left of the enchanted forest, Snow and Emma are bound and being basically dragged behind Mulan and Aurora’s horses. They ask where they are being taken too, and Mulan replies she is taking them to their home. Home seems to be a refugee camp and not wanting to be a prisoner, Snow attempts and escape but is knocked unconscious by Mulan. Thrown into a pit, Emma and Snow White are joined by the pits only other resident. Cora, Regina’s mother.

Once Upon A Time – Episode 2 – The Thing You Love The Most

Promotional Picture from ABC’s “Once Upon A Time”

Aired: 10/30/11

If you’ve been following along from the last episode, this is no news for you however; if this is your first time joining us then this is a quick recap for the pilot. Henry a little boy from Storybrooke, Maine, has ventured to Boston in hopes of finding and retrieving his mother Emma. Emma, who works as a bounty hunter, seems emotionally detached growing up an orphan herself. Henry believes that Emma is the key to saving a host placed on them. (Why can Emma save them all?)  Because Emma is allegedly the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming and the savior of fairytale land.  We’ve already been introduced to a few of the real world counterparts, like Regina Mills, Mayor of Storybrooke reality doppelganger of the evil queen and last but not least Henry’s adopted mother. Through the course of the episode we see fairytale world sucked away by the curse and notice that the real world counterparts live as if their stories never existed. After a silent challenge with Regina, Emma Henry’s birth mother decides to stay in Storybrooke for a few days. That was the pilot quick re-cap and now for episode 2.

The episode starts the day after Emma decides to stay in Storybrooke. She is staying at Granny’s Bed & Breakfast. Mary Margaret, Henry’s teacher and the real world Snow White, is eating breakfast alone. The clock tower which started ticking from the moment Emma decided to stay has caught the attention of Mary Margaret who seems to be excited.  Zooming to Henry’s house we see he still in his pajamas staring out the window at the town who continues to move as if nothing has changed.

In the real world the Evil Queen is reading Henry’s story book and reaching the end of it. She gets highly upset that the final pages of the story are missing. These missing pages have been torn out of the book. She storms into Henry’s room and demands to know what happened to the end of the story. He stares her down only opening his mouth to tell her that she is not his mother. The two exchange words, including the whereabouts of Emma at this very moment. Henry neither confirms nor denies that she has left and Regina senses there is a secret being kept. As the clock tower rings, Regina with a look of shock is distracted long enough for Henry to slip out of the bedroom.

Regina may not know what the newly working clock tower means but it cannot mean anything good if she is truly the evil queen. The clock reads 8:23, which may or may not be significant to the story. (Maybe it’s just a time.) While standing outside by the clock tower, she notices Emma’s car in front of the bed and breakfast and decided to pay a visit.  Heading straight for (how she found the room number we’re not sure), demands that she leave town immediately. Emma refuses to budge and, feeling that her intimidation tactics are failing; Regina offers a threat. “You have no idea what I am capable of.” Emma rises to this challenge and insists, “You’re gonna have to show me, aren’t you?” The two women engage in yet another stare down before Regina buckles and says, “So be it.” Regina angrily leaves the room and we are whisked away to fairytale land.

It is the wedding day of Snow White and Prince Charming and as they are standing at the altar, the Evil Queen bursts in and threatens to destroy Snow White’s happiness. (This scene is a repeat from the pilot).  Prince Charming hurls the blade of his sword towards the Evil Queen.

Elsewhere in the house we find Mayor Regina Mills, Henry’s adopted mother and then who vanishes in a puff of black smoke. The Queen transports herself to her lair livid and wreaking of vengeance. An old man heads her way, offering her a drink and trying to comfort her. The Queen, whose mere presence at this moment, invokes fear into his heart storms her way to the magical mirror that we remember from the childhood fairytale of Snow White. Determined to prove her words than a simple threat she asks the mirror about a Dark Curse that she once had, the mirror reveals she traded it away some time ago, and the Queen tells the man in the mirror that she will be going to a Forbidden Fortress to retrieve it. (Not quite sure who the fortress belongs to just yet)

Once at the Forbidden Fortress the Evil Queen, finds another sorceress who is every bit as terrifying as the Queen herself, Maleficent. (From Sleeping Beauty, of yeah, she’s here too.) Maleficent, closely portrayed as in the stories has her pet a black unicorn and the familiar scepter that we all remember. The one with the giant orb on top of it, the two greet each other, then insult each other in a fashion that can only be described as catty. (Or like high school girls). The two get down to business, the queen wants back her dark curse which she traded to Maleficent for the poisoned apple sleeping curse which failed. Maleficent could care less about the effectiveness of the curse she’s not willing to part with her found treasures, a deal is a deal.

This dark curse which the queen demands back is so powerful that Maleficent has hidden to protect the world. Growing impatient, the Evil Queen attacks, Maleficent and the two powerful sorceresses duke it out, the prize being the dark curse. Maleficent falls to the Queen and as the Evil Queen retrieves her curse Maleficent begs her to rethink her actions, “Enacting it will take a terrible toll. It will leave emptiness inside you. A void you will never be able to fill.” The queen determined to destroy everyone’s happiness take the curse anyway and leaves to start her evil deeds.

In a dark and spooky part of the forest the Queen tries casting her villainous spell over the fairytale world, adding the prized heart of her childhood pet. The curse swirls and smoke rises but nothing happens, the curse didn’t work.

Back in Storybrooke we see Regina meeting a reporter whom she clearly owns. Sidney, looks strikingly familiar, he’s the man in the magic mirror that she confides in. Apparently, they’ve been investigating Emma, unfortunately the only news he has on her is that she spent a lot of time changing foster homes and at some point got into some trouble the details of which are unknown because of her juvenile record, (Which is sealed at 18 provided you stay out of trouble) Regina disappointed tells Sidney to dig up more on the newest visitor.

Back at Granny’s diner, Emma crosses with Graham, the town sheriff, (or the huntsman if you want to connect the dots). Graham comments on Emma decision to stay in Storybrooke before the conversation gets too deep Henry appears and asks that he and Emma go for a walk. While walking Henry beaming that she decided to stay, while walking Henry beaming that she decided to stay, tells her that he will help break the curse with her. Emma, who still doesn’t believe, indulges the young boy. He reveals to her and to the audience how the curse has affected the town. His plan to break the curse has now become a covert scheme called Operation Cobra.

Emma   doesn’t believe anything her son is saying; in fact she thinks he’s completely delusional. Henry explains that the town is frozen town is frozen town is frozen in time, the people in it, stripped of their past and trapped in Storybrooke. Emma being the descendant of Snow White and prince Charming is the only one who can help; Henry gives Emma the missing pages of the storybook and warns her that Regina can never see them. Emma who has walked Henry to school speaks with Mary Margaret about Henry. Mary Margaret notes that Emma has chosen to stay and Emma asks about Henry’s therapist.

Emma wants to know why Henry is in therapy at his age. She heads down to Archie, (Jiminy Cricket) office. Archie spouts off a psychological response; Henry uses stories as a coping mechanism to handle complex and misunderstood emotions. It’s how he deals with his emotional issues. Emma inquires about Regina’s role in Henry’s emotional problems. Archie tells Emma that some of the problem is that Regina is trying too hard to bond with Henry, by trying so hard to bring him near she’s actually pushing him away. Archie hands Emma the file, schmoozing her and walking her to the door. When she leaves you immediately see that the entire meeting was a setup, by Regina. Whom Archie called after Emma left to let her know the file is in Emma’s hands.

Emma is back in her room going through Henry’s file; Graham comes back under orders to arrest her for stealing. Emma gives him the file back without a problem but is arrested anyway. She tells the sheriff that she was framed. Regina satisfied that her scheme was effective heads to Henry’s school to school to tell him about Emma being arrested, for stealing his file. She spins a tale of Emma stealing the file to take advantage of them; the story falls on deaf ears and seeing through her charade Henry heads back to class.

While in jail Emma is pleading with Graham, she knows she was set up and is telling her conspiracy theory to the sheriff. He listens halfheartedly, (possibly because he works for her as well.) The conversation is put on hold as Mary Margaret arrives with Henry to get her out of jail. In a very bold and slightly psychotic move on Emma’s part, she heads straight for Regina’s house where a large apple tree sits in the front yard. Emma chainsaw in hand; begins cutting off a branch. The sounds of the chainsaw undoubtedly forces Regina from the house and two starts sniping at each other. However, though out of her element, it seems Emma still has the upper hand, threatening Regina, “You come after me one more time; I’ll be back for the rest of this tree. Because, sister; you have no idea what I’m capable of. Your move.”

The battle of wits seems to have already begun; the battle for all the happy endings seems to be brewing just beneath the surface. In the fairytale forest, the Evil Queen much like Regina is standing at the remains of her failed scheme. Staring blankly at the barren fire pit she is shaken from her thoughts by the old man, her butler, who questions why the spell didn’t work. He proposes they find Rumpelstiltskin, the creator of the curse, to find the answers. (Yes, Rumpelstiltskin created the curse that will destroy fairytale land). It seems that he so far is the only person who even she is weary of. However, seeing no other option, they leave to find him.

In his cell Rumpelstiltskin, dirty and still not quite sane, the Queen visits him. Rumpelstiltskin tells the Evil Queen that Snow White and Prince Charming also visited him. He told her as he told them; the baby growing inside of Snow White is the key to breaking the curse.  “All curses have a cure.” The Queen more preoccupied with casting the curse than stopping them from breaking it strikes a bargain with Rumpelstiltskin. Regardless of the world they end up in, she must do whatever he requests of her as long as he says please. The reason the spell didn’t work was because the sacrifice was not large enough, in order to cast the spell, she must sacrifice the heart of whatever thing she loves the most. With a truly sinister look on her face the queen vows to do whatever it takes.

Back in the real world Emma has been kicked out of Granny’s thank to Regina. Regina is standing outside her house telling Graham to arrest Emma again, this time for destruction of city property. Graham declines, insisting that if Regina continues to try running Emma out of town that she will only end up hurting Henry.  Emma finds that her car has boot on it, of course this is no typical string of bad luck and Emma’s phone rings. Regina would like to call a truce, at Regina’s office the two women talk and Emma comments that she thinks Henry’s theory of the curse on Storybrooke is ridiculous. Once gain Emma has fallen into Regina’s trap because Henry, conveniently walks in overhearing her. He runs from the room his faith in his savior lost. Regina, proud of this plan smugly comments; “Your move,” as Emma chases after Henry.

In fairytale land, the Queen returns from her meeting with Rumpelstiltskin. The butler whose been waiting up for her asks what the problem was. She tells him that she must cut out the heart of the thing she loves the most and as we watch we see that the sacrificial lamb is the butler, himself. This man who of the entire episode seemed more like a servant and less like a useful magical ingredient is revealed to be the Queen’s father. While your mind spins around that, the queen tearfully seeks advice and he implores her to not cast the curse; he begs her to choose happiness and pleads with her to change her mind. She buries her face in his shoulder an emotional side to the Queen we’ve never seen before. She admits that she can be happy, but malevolently admits that she can’t be happy there. She rips his heart from his chest and as his body falls lifelessly to the floor the Queen, cheeks stained with her tears apologizes.

Emma goes to see Mary Margaret, to thank her and pay back the money she put up to bail her out of jail. She lets Mary Margaret know that she is leaving town to make sure that she doesn’t hurt Henry. Mary Margaret pleads with Emma to reconsider, “Who will protect Henry if you won’t?” Emma feels guilty about this.

Emma goes to find Henry at his therapist’s office, she tells Henry she only stayed there for him. Emma tells Henry, she only pretended not to believe him to throw off Regina. Henry thinks this is a great idea, and they hug each other for the first time. She tells him that not even a curse can stop her from being there for him.

The Evil Queen who is back in the woods attempting to cast the Evil Curse throws her father’s freshly procured heart into the fire. It swirls and hisses and the sky goes a dark color and black clouds gather around the area. The curse has begun and the Queen turns to leave, she places a black rose on the grave of her father paying her last respects. The name on the gravestone reads: HENRY.

In Storybrooke, Emma and Henry are walking together happily. In another part of town, Regina is paid a visit from Mr. Gold. Regina gloats about ridding the town of an unwanted nuisance. (Referring to Emma) Mr. Gold bursts her bubble by telling her he’d just seen Emma and Henry moments ago. It is revealed to the audience that Mr. Gold orchestrated Henry’s adoption. Mr. Gold asks how she picked a name for the boy; Regina insists that he set this whole thing up on purpose. Regina asks where exactly he got Henry from, Mr. Gold smiles but says nothing.  Regina inquires into how much he knows about Emma but, Mr. Gold, hints at the fact that she already knows who the young woman is.  With this bit of information he prepares to leave her, Regina stands in his way and demands to know what exactly he knows about Emma. He silently stares her down and asks her to let him pass. She refuses to budge until his maliciously adds please. She instantly moves to let him pass and Mr. Gold exits. No one is quite sure how much power Mr. Gold possesses, but what is certain is that, if Regina controls the townspeople and Mr. Gold controls her, his role is larger than we know.
